Life Is Beautiful… Let It Flow!
Did you just say…“I don’t have time” ? Oh, so you work night shifts, hmmm… okay. I got it you are a single mom! Yeah…I heard you working so hard on that project and I know that appraisal is due! Well… it can be pretty hard to recover from the loss of a loved one!
Guys, I hear you all and I don’t claim to understand what you feel within that little heart of yours ( sometimes it’s coupled with physical pain). Yes, we humans have needs and we have to work towards them. But most of the times we go so hard to meet our needs (and you know they are ever-growing) that we actually forget our purpose. We forget to enjoy life. We forget to inhale fresh air. We forget to spend time in nature and suddenly something which should be natural to our state of being seems like indulgence, something we feel is not productive in context of the everyday grind. I am actually finding it difficult to express something like this in words! In my own head I am feeling that push and pull, like everyone will say “Yeah, we know we know” then why do you feel stressed, trapped, disappointed and annoyed on most days?
Why going on a vacation is a luxury? Of course, if you truly wish to travel to a different part of the world, it may be a luxury for many. But I believe most of us just want to recharge our energies or to feel a sense of calm within, unfortunately, to go back to that mundane and stressful everyday life of ours. Forget vacation, have you ever given a thought as to why most people dread Mondays after a weekend? Weekends or vacations are important as they make us regain ourselves and feel better and enjoy some moments but that's not my point here.
Do you have any idea what are we trying to escape from on those weekends or vacations? What is that we can use to be strong enough to face the inevitable events of our everyday lives? Maybe I sound a little crazy now! Hang on and hear me out... Imagine, if after a vacation we feel so rejuvenated, how much better our everyday life will be if we can go on a mini-vacation with ourselves every day! And you do not have to shell out a large amount of money or take off from work to do so! Can you think of getting up a little early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise with a cup of coffee or tea? And mind you I am not giving you some sort of success mantra here! I am just trying to squeeze that mini-vacation in your everyday life! I challenge you to try it out and tell me that you didn't enjoy it!
Surround yourself with plants or little pots of flowers in your balcony or terrace and sit all by yourself or your partner, think about life, enjoy the beauty around you, or just let your mind wander wherever for a while! Have no terrace or backyard or something? Go out to your local park or stroll around in the neighbourhood, enjoy the breeze, look at the stray dogs, or look at that beautiful tree blooming with wild yellow flowers. Just go out or look outside a window, you will find something to admire! If for some reason you can't control your mornings, how about stargazing or just looking at the moon and enjoying that sense of calm when everybody is asleep in those late hours of night!
The idea is to allow yourself to feel at ease and doing nothing sometimes. Give yourself the gift of mindless wandering of your thoughts! You do not always have to meditate or read a book or paint or something.
Just looking outside can sometimes give you a view of what is going on the inside, inside of you, inside of your relationships, inside of your career, inside of your life!
